1. Goals and scientific areas of interest in areas the network

The name of the network is only orientative and it was chosen in order to establish the scientific areas of interest that could be easily identified in the field of the Artificial intelligence knowledge. In fact, the scientific areas of interest that the network tries to cover would orbit around the planning and scheduling and the different forms in which both can appear, the problems of constraint satisfaction and the representation and the reasoning on temporary knowledge and also other similar areas. the main goal of the network isTo promote the cooperation between the groups of the system of Science-Tecnology-Company in Spain and to harness the presence of national groups of investigation in international initiatives.

2. Network constitution

The network has been constituided in a very similar way in which a I+D project of the CICYT does, with a year duration. Public I+D centers, private I+D centers without profit spirit and technological centers recognized and registered previously by the CICYT will be able to participate at the network.(See centers that have expressed their interest in participating).

To fulfill the network goal, RNPST will partially finance the participation of investigators of each participant center in scientific events related to the areas of scientific interest of the network like courses, workshops, international conferences, etc. In this way, the network will partially support the expenses of the participation in these activities, like, for example, the stays and/or diets of the investigators involved during the period of time in which the activity is developed, and the rest of the expenses will be supported in other ways.

RNPST is composed by 16 public centers of investigation (15 universities, 1 Institute of the CSIC) and two companies (See definitive list).

3. Program of RNPST activities

RNPST will last one year and the activities for which it will provide aid are the following ones:

REN. National Meetings. As Workshops or adjacent courses and events in the area of the network. RNPST propose a meeting a year, the first one placed next to IBERAMIA 2002 (November 2002, Seville) and another one next to CAEPIA 2003 (November 2003, San Sebastián)

SEM. Teaching seminaries, for celebrating in the place of each member during the period of the network.

TRA. Transference courses. One or two during the period of RNPST. Technical sessions in SIMO (Madrid) or BIT could be organized (Barcelona). And/Or organize an Information Day of PLANET.

REE. Participation in international meetings. It will be valued very positively that these meetings jointly hold with European networks of excellence or other initiatives of international character that could be relevant for RNPST.

FJI. Formation activities for young researchers like summer schools. One could be a National Summer School and the other one an International Summer School like the PLANET's Summer School.

DIF. Diffusion of the network?s activity through the Web, list of distribution and elaboration of electronic newsletter.
