We have done simulations with white Gaussian noise added to standard test images. The table below shows the PSNR results (dB) for a set of test images for a wide noise variance range.

Figures below show 2 graphical comparisons with the best results available at the time of [Portilla 2003b] having its latest revision. PSNRout vs. PSNRin, in dB, for two images (Lena, on the left, and Barbara, on the right). They correspond to a noise standard deviation of 25, 20, 15 and 10, from left to right. Our results [Portilla 2003b], including the numerical value, are the squares, diamonds correspond to [Sendur 2002], stars to [Starck 2002], pluses to [Li 2000], and circles to [Chang 1998].

Lena (left panel) and Barbara (right panel) Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratios results (PSNRout vs. PSNRin) in decibels. The referred test images where contaminated with simulated white Gaussian noise (see text for more details).
Some denoised images can be seen and downloaded in the EXAMPLES link.
The original test images themselves can be downloaded from the TEST IMAGES link
